Two kudu bulls were fighting against each other, unbeknownst to them a lioness was stalking them, this sighting was captured at Pondoro Game Lodge.
The lodge is located in Balule Private Nature Reserve, in the exclusive Greater Kruger National Park, overlooking the Olifant River. The five star lodge has 5 stunning suites, 3 chalets and our personal favorite the overnight treehouse hide, you can book this as an extra activity on your itinerary.
Pondoro offers game drives letting guests have a luxury big five experience, you can relax at their rock pool after a long day in the bush or enjoy a massage at their in-house spa, after dinner you can stargaze using the telescope at the lodge.
You can enjoy a fusion of traditional African and modern European cuisine while sitting on a wooden deck up in tree canopy overlooking the Olifant River.
The lodge is run by a husband and wife team, after 20 years’ experience as a ranger Robbie Prehn will make sure you have unforgettable safari experience, while Lize Prehn will ensure your stay at the lodge is a luxurious experience.
Last week a once in a lifetime sighting was captured at the reserve, two kudu bulls are seen fighting, this was probably a fight for mating rights, the kudu’s move into the bush and a lioness comes into view and she is crouched down hidden in the bushes stalking the two unaware antelopes, she also goes off into the bush and we lose sight of her. In the next clip we see the lioness had actually managed to take down one of the kudu bulls.
The lioness takes a while to actually kill the antelope after taking it down but she eventually suffocates the kudu.
This video shows how strong and agile lionesses are, because this lioness managed to take down the bull on her own, kudus are the largest species of antelope found in the bush, and bulls usually weigh between 190 and 270 kg.
