We haven’t stayed at Skukuza since 2014/2015, it was a last minute booking and we managed to get two nights here in a Bungalow.
Our bungalow overlooked the camp shop so it was noisy throughout the day, we didn’t really mind because we were out most of the day, and when we were inside our room, you could hardly hear the noise.
The room (like all the rooms in the park) needs remodeling and a modern uplift, the rooms probably look the same as they did 50 years ago.
Our room slept 3 people and included a bathroom with the shower. The linen and towels provided were clean and smelled fresh. The only issue was that every time we showered the shower would flood.
The bungalow also include a fully equipped kitchen, and all the appliances seemed to work fine.
New bins have been placed for recyclable and non-recyclable items on the patio. On our first night we had heard some noise coming from outside, but we didn’t get up to inspect and the next morning we woke up to our bins being completely emptied and everything in the bin missing. The following night when we went on a night drive, other visitors had posted online that they had spotted a hyena inside the camp, so the noise we had heard was most likely a hyena.
During our stay we also visited the newly opened Am Spa, you can read about our experience here.
The shop at Skukuza is the one that is always fully stocked compared to others in the park, it also has items you might have forgotten at home.
Cattle Baron is the restaurant available at Skukuza and it is in our opinion the best restaurant available in the whole park, they have a take away section with a simple but delicious menu, both their food and service are always really good.
They also have a sit down area which overlooks the Sabie River, for when you want to enjoy a relaxing sit down dinner or lunch.
