Unfortunately last week a elephant was spotted without a trunk at the Kruger National Park.
Images and videos surfaced this week showing a pride of elephants and among them there was a trunk-less baby elephant.

No one is aware of how the elephant lost its trunk, but it’s believed that either a predator is to blame or the small elephants trunk got caught in a snare.
A hunters snare is the most likely cause for this unfortunate event, because more and more animals have been getting caught in snares in the Kruger National Park. A lioness with cubs was caught in one recently.
We also can’t rule out the fact that maybe it got attacked by a crocodile while drinking water or other predators found at the park.

This is heartbreaking because elephant’s use their trunks to breath, bathe, grasp food to eat, and to transport water to their mouth for drinking. Elephants can use their trunks to pick up object weighing up to 350kg, their trunks have a total of 40000 muscles, while us as humans only have 600

Many believe that the elephant is unlikely to make it into adulthood.
