A wildfire which started yesterday in the Pilanesberg National Park is still burning this morning.
There is no clarity on how the fire started in the park, the fire started late Saturday night from the north of park and the fire got out of control due to the wind blowing south.
After an intensive air search it was discovered this morning that there were no injured or dead animals in the park.
There should be enough food in the veld right now to support the animals without the need to supply food to feed them.
Not as much of the park has burnt as anticipated, Mankwe hide was the only structure which was completely destroyed.
The park has been opened once again to the public by park officials however there are still active fires.
We will keep you posted as we receive more information.
If you would like to help you can send donations to rebuild the hide and costs to run the choppers to check the damage; donations can be paid into the Pilanesberg wildlife trust
