On Thursday morning a luxury safari camp in Zimbabwe released videos and photos of a aftermath of a hyena kill which happened right in the foyer of their reception.
This is what Kavinga Safari had to say on their Facebook page:
“In the early hours of the morning, we were woken up to find that 14 hyenas had pulled down an adult Kudu Bull… in our main (reception) area!”
“It’s going to take quite a few buckets and mops to clean up this mess!”
Later on photos were posted by the camp showing what remained from the kudu kill, it included the kudu horns and plenty bloody paw prints.

In the video you see the moment where there staff from Kavinga, armed with rifles approach the reception area early Thursday morning to investigate the noise they had heard, but all they find is bloody pool prints and a kudu kill.
The guides did drag the kill outside later on so they could clean up the reception and according to the guides the hyena were soon back at the kill to finish feeding on the carcass. Kavinga Safari Camp is located in Mana Pools, one of Zimbabwe’s most popular national parks along the Zambezi River.
Something similar also occurred at Afsaal in the Kruger National Park in 2015, the only difference was that no one knew which animal had killed the animal.
Some wildlife experts suspected that the kudu was caught on the veranda by lions and the carcass was taken over by a pack of wild dogs. The carcass was skinned and gnawed, like wild dogs usually do. Others think it might have been wild dogs who made the kill and had it taken over by hyenas.
