Today we bring you a review of Biyamiti Bushveld Camp, which is located in the Kruger National Park.
Biyamiti is a small bushveld camp located in the southern part of the Kruger and it is situated between Crocodile Bridge and Malelane, the Biyamiti river flows along the camp.
It comprises of only 15 self catering cottages in the camp which sleeps 4-5 people per cottage, and the cottages faces the river. The cottages are serviced daily and supplied with bedding, towels and soap.
The area around the camp offers opportunity to see the big 5 as well as other game as it has a ‘private resident only’ road which follows the river. Game drives and bush walks are offered by the camp.
We recently stayed at Biyamiti for the very first time, and it is a great camp for any nature lover, our chalet faced the river, the river was dry but it did have small puddles of water for animals to drink out of. At the fence we got to see an African civet, a white tailed mongoose and a herd of elephant.
Unlike other camps at Biyamiti, you yourself get to open gate of the camp in the morning before leaving for your morning drive. There are no tar around Biyamiti so all your driving is done on sand roads. We got to see huge herds of buffalo and elephants.
The chalet is in need of some maintenance and upgrading, we know it’s a bushveld camp but compared to Talamati it’s below the standard it should be, there was no plug point in the rooms or in the lounge so we had to have an extension from the outside area coming inside to at least charge our cameras, if we didn’t have the extension with us we would have had to leave it outside which I think it’s not the safest option.
The camp has no shop so you need to arrive well stocked up with water and food, the only thing available is ice and wood which you buy from reception.
While we stayed there we went on a sunset drive, and our ranger was so informative and made our drive incredible, we have been on game drives where the ranger does not speak while their driving, Simon informed us about the animals as well as the trees and it’s was information we never knew or heard about.
Biyamiti is a great camp we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the smaller and quieter camp. We would stay here again, we actually have booked to stay in December.
